- Background

Jazzbones promotes Swindon’s boldest new development.

Wichelstowe is a hugely exciting 4,000+ home development located on the southern boundary of Swindon.

Wichelstowe is a hugely exciting 4,000-home development located on the southern boundary of Swindon, close enough to the town centre and Old Town to walk or cycle to the shops and restaurants. It’s under three miles to the station, which offers frequent trains to London Paddington, Bath and Bristol, and also provides five-minute access to the M4. With easy commutes, there’s more time to “live life as you’ve always wanted” on this wildlife friendly site with the feel of distinct villages.

Work is now underway at Canalside which will include the District Centre, a new school, a Hall & Woodhouse bar/café, and the first town houses in Herons Water. A joint venture agreement has been signed between Swindon Borough Council and Barratt Developments to bring around 3,000 homes to the remainder of the Wichelstowe site.

- The Challenge

Jazzbones Creative were commissioned by Swindon Borough Council in partnership with Switch Onto Swindon to design a website that is as attractive, contemporary and exciting as the Wichelstowe development itself.

- The Strategy

The new Wichelstowe website presents the core information and development of this major residential development, giving the public a clear vision of its future. As progression is made on the building and construction, detailed information will be added to the website to keep house buyers, residents and businesses fully in the picture (there are even progress reports on the wellbeing of the canal’s fish population!).

- The Result

The style of the website closely follows established brand guidelines for Wichelstowe, using its bright and vivid colour scheme and contemporary font choice. Though guided by existing style parameters, we used our own designer flair to create a website that is fresh, clean and easy to navigate, creating something new and exciting for the brand. We felt that a clean, staggered, grid system would work perfectly for this website, giving a subtle nod towards the angles used within the brand. One look at the Wichelstowe website and you’ll want to live there!
