Jazzbones worked with Vodafone Foundation and Parent Zone to create illustrated digital storybooks about online safety. Familiar devices became characters children could follow, giving families a way to talk about what happens online.

Online safety can be difficult to explain to younger children. Parent Zone’s stories gave us a way to show it through familiar situations, from a birthday party to a child receiving a worrying message.

We developed the 3D characters and illustrated the scenes, then designed the books as digital spreads. The character studies show the progression from wireframes to finished models. In the stories, colour and expression help children follow what the characters are feeling and recognise moments when they might ask an adult for help.

The books were adapted into different languages, including German and Portuguese. The illustrations carried the story across editions while the text could be translated for local readers.
